Loving Children & Blaming Me
14 April 2010 02:27 amIt must be hard to be a cardinal (no, "it" does not refer to the cardinal's phallus in the proximity of young children). Today, cardinal Bertone, a man with blood-soaked eyes (I just noticed this) thought he discovered a way to set things straight when it comes to the Church and pedophilia.
"It is brilliant, my new theory, I can't wait to tell the press and all those sad-bottomed children we abused!" the man must have thought.
The cardinal must be really puzzled as to WHY people around the world are again very upset by his statement (this came from the man who said that the media have totally blown this thing out of proportion). First of all, I'd say, isn't it completely beside the point to say something like this, as if his revelation now justifies his ill-behaving priests? You know, seduced by the devil, yada-yada-yada, ten hail Mary's and you're good to talk about the love of God again (does someone who has been abused by a priest who commits suicide because of his mental distress go to hell? He should, right? Hmmmm, maybe we should ask a priest...). I'm sure the abused children must have felt SO relieved today to find out the true cause of their pain..... ME!
A while back I got an e-mail from the young Swedish monk who I met two years ago. Even he has left the monastery here and is now happily married and has two children. Whatever his motivation, I'm glad for him he's out of there.
Oh, the absurdity!
"It is brilliant, my new theory, I can't wait to tell the press and all those sad-bottomed children we abused!" the man must have thought.
His new theory is perhaps most shocking in its ignorance than anything else. Of course it's laughable, it only becomes grim when you realise that people might actually buy this crap.
Anyhow, according to this enlightened soul, it is not because of celibacy that priests resort to pedophilia, it is because of homophilia. Say what? According to the man, psychiatrists and psychologists have "shown" that there is no link between celibacy and pedophilia, but that there is a link between pedophilia and homophilia. He doesn't mention his non-existant sources (because I assume no study has ever started out from this presumption "OH? You're a gay or a celibate monk? Maybe that means you're a pedophile, let's see if that's true! Do you like children?").The cardinal must be really puzzled as to WHY people around the world are again very upset by his statement (this came from the man who said that the media have totally blown this thing out of proportion). So we gays did it again, unsurprisingly (I was going to say "fags", but I support South Park's proposal to change the meaning of the word to mean "annoying Harley bikers", maybe the church should start blaming them!). Personally, I don't mind taking the blame for all the wrongs in the world, if it makes you feel any better, blame me for everything from pimples on your arse to world hunger, I don't care.
Of course it makes sense that eighty-year-old popes and cardinals aren't going to lift the celibacy rule, certainly not considering all the trouble they have had to go through to conceal all those abused children and bribe those suspicious prostitutes (or kill them and use them as fertilizer for their garden). And for those who really WERE ceilbate: after a lifetime of frustration, it's no wonder you become bitter and blame everything on Me (I just gave you permission, anyway). Ah, the sadness.A while back I got an e-mail from the young Swedish monk who I met two years ago. Even he has left the monastery here and is now happily married and has two children.
